Books I recommend

In 2022, I read 87 books! Yes I kept a tally and recorded them all as I knew I read a lot and wonder how many I do actually get through. Now I know not everyone wants to read that much so here is a list of my recommendations so you can get some good reading done this year…

My top reads for 2022:

Lost and Found by Toni Street

A lot of bad things have happened in Toni’s life but she keeps getting back up. Inspirational and endearing.

Let Go by Hugh van Cuylanburg

I love Hugh’s podcast with his mate and brother and his book is an easy read that may make you want to put your phone down a little more often. His first book The Resilience Project is really good too.

The Wim Hof Method by Wim Hof

This started me doing cold showers and breathing exercises that I benefitted from greatly until I stopped over winter (yes I’m a wuss) but just yesterday I started the cold showers again…..makes you feel so good. This book gives you the reasons behind the benefits and what to do. Worth a try!

Dancing with the machine by Jo Morgan

Jo has had a full life and has had lots of adventures. An interesting life to read about.

Glucose Revolution by Jessie Inchauspe

Read this if you want the hack for managing glucose spikes in your day. This book changed what I have for breakfast and helped me to feel full longer (I usual am hungry an hour after eating) so I stopped snacking so much.

The bookseller at the end of the world by Ruth Shaw

It is amazing what some people go through in their life and still give back so much. A feel good memoir.

Educated by Tara Westover

I liked this as it showed me a way of life that is hard to understand. Overcoming growing up with radicalism and violence to becoming educated.

Girls that invest by Simran Kaur

Easy to understand investing from a young woman who knows how to write so we all can understand.

Solo by Jenny Tough

Jenny runs across countries on her own and tells of the adventures she has. What doing hard things does for your confidence and ability to rely on yourself.

Carrie Soto is back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I couldn’t believe I enjoyed this book but it drew me in and I loved the main character. It is all about tennis but draws on so much that we go through in life too.

Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan

All about deciding what to keep in the past and what to tell those you meet. Different perspectives to open your eyes and make you think kind of book. Loved it!

Authors I read one of their books that had me reading their other books:

Nikki Crutchley

Sarah Moss

Charity Norman

Mark Brandi

JP Pomare

And 3 books I’ve already read this year that I would recommend (all funny so must be what I’m craving at the mo):

Here for a good time by Chris Parker

A comedian so will have you laughing out loud but also sharing quirky ideas that make you think.

Running by Dom Harvey

Again funny and motivational if you’re a runner.

Fat, forty and fired by Nigel Marsh

Taking a year off to focus on the important stuff with plenty of humour along the way.

I hope this list inspires at least one book you may want to get out of the library. Let me know which one and if you agree that it’s a good read.
